The Four Agreements

This blog was just intended for my English 42/43 class, however I feel comfortable writting somewhere other then facebook...

I have been reading a book called The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz (I recommend people to read it). It is a practical guide to personal freedom. I really like this book because in a way or another i can relate to the four agreements, well i think everybody does. The four agreements are: Be impeccable with your words, Don't take anything personally, Don't make assumptions, and Always do your best.

The 1st agreement is about speaking with integrity. You have to say only thing you really mean. the words we use should be chosen wisely. I know sometimes we just say things without thinking because it happens to me too. But, we don't realize that words can hurt us and others. We also have to limit what we say, in other words we shouldn't gossip.

Don't take things personally! When we let people get to us we let it poison us and hurt us from the inside.

Assumptions, Assumptions, and more Assumptions... We are humans! No matter how hard we try not to make assumptions it just happens. Communication is the key. We need to communicate clearly with others, in order to be clear with each other and avoid misunderstandings.

No matter what the situation is we should always do our best. Your best will depend on whether you are feeling wonderful and happy, or upset, angry, or jealous.

Responsibility. Who?

We are often caught up in situation where we decide to blame others for not doing good. However we don't realize that we are acting as victims. Now a days instead of parents blaming the student for bad grades. they blame the teachers. I mean each one of us should take responsibility of our of actions.

In my english class we saw this image. Im curious to see what other people get out of it. What do you think?

In Lak'ech Ala K'in - the Living Code of the Heart

Tú eres mi otro yo.
You are my other me.
Si te hago daño a ti, Me hago daño a mí mismo.
If I do harm to you, I do harm to myself.
Sí te amo y respeto, Me amo y respeto yo.
If I love and respect you, I love and respect myself.

In the Mayan tradition is a greeting. It is the law of In Lak'ech Ala K'in, which means I am another yourself (A modern day interpretation). It also means I am you, and you are me (A traditional Mayan interpretation). This is basically a statement of unity and oneness. Every action we take is out of respect for all life, and we are living and giving from our hearts. We cannot act like victims anymore, and we cannot live out of fear either.
I believe the past will become just a bad dream, and the future will become a beautiful vision of which we will create right now.
I say that we cant depend on others to give us the strength. We can get the support and everything but its up to us to find the strength with in us. We all have it we just need time to find it.

I recently learned this while i was in my English class. I heard it while watching precious knowledge.
Precious Knowledge portrays the one of the final years of the highly successful but controvercial mexican American Studies Program at Tucson High School.
While i was watching i was really mad not only because us Mexicans are being stepped on but because we get discriminated so often. i liked how the students stood up for what they believe in and made there voice be heard.

BY THE WAY THIS IS THE SOURCE! Hope you enjoyed :)

Dont Be Afraid...

This Song is Called..
Words i never said By Lupe Fiasco ft. Skylar Grey

Props & Respect to Lupe Fiasco who speaks out & inspires those who need a little push in life. Take a stand for what you believe in. You will go far...

It's so loud inside my head. With words that i should have said. As i drown in my regrets, I cant take back the words I never said.

Now a days some people are to afraid to speak up. To express there own opinions. What happened to "freedom of Speech"?

“War On Terror” is an American excuse to dominate the Middle East for oil & supplies and to decrease civil liberties.

Because of defence spending, education is often the first to get budget cuts.  It costs more per year to send someone to the state pen[itentiary] than to Penn State… Is this what the future generations will live on?
A significant number of students who attend public school do poorly that some don't graduate and those who do don't attend college. During the "Bush-era" there became a policy for which the schools who do good get more money while does who do badly get less or nothing at all. Meaning the rich get richer & the poor get poorer...

I got out of this song that if we knew what was happening and didn't take action then we shall suffer the consequences.

Fear is what keeps society quiet. And many people are so afraid to stand up for what is right.

We have to stop complaining about things, if we wont take a step  in making a change!

American Dream???

Hollywood undead is an american rap/rock band from los angeles california. The band currently consists of Charley Scene, Da Kurlzz, Danny, Funny Man, J-Dog, and Johnny 3 Tears.

"Hear Me Now" is about a desperate man who walks the streets with nothing but hopelessness. Its about the physical and mental rock bottom its basically like  wake up call. Hard life trouble and mistakes a person has made.

Although the American Dream is about prosperity, equality, and freedom. Most people don't look at the other side of it. Yes, there might be freedom but for those who look forward to a better life don't realize how hard they have to work for. Especially now a days.

I took this song in totally different view. The guy walking in the streets would be a hard working men who hit rock bottom because there are no jobs, or they are low paying ones.

This would be a wake up call.

I especially like this part: "i keep searching for something that i never seem to find. but maybe i wont, because i left it all behind. now I'm stuck with this, and that'll never change always a part of me, until the very last day." i would say that we had been searching for the american dream, we had it but not anymore and that will stick with us to the end. I chose these lines because i remember that as a junior in high school we talked about the "american dream". I personally think there is no american dream or at least not anymore. If anything people would think that the american dream is to receive welfare or something like that. Now a days are young ones can't even get educated right.

But i guess this is just me. My intent is not to criticize or to offend anyone i just want to say my opinion. Most people might disagree and others agree. I'm ok with everyone else's opinion.
I believe that we should never chase love, affection, or attention. If it’s not given freely by another person, it isn’t worth having. Every time a friend or someone goes through a difficult situation and needs a piece of advice this is always my response and it always makes them feel better. I might be young and people say that I haven’t experienced anything, but what they don’t know is what I have gone through.

I had learned this from my most important relationship to date. My belief came about one night when I was in my room crying my heart out when I had finally realized I had lost the person I thought was my life. The person who I loved the most and I had given everything to. In the beginning, our relationship was like any other, it was the most wonderful experience in life. I couldn’t fall asleep at night because reality was finally better than my dreams. After months of going out, things started to change. Instead of being the one who got the attention or love, I became the one who chased him. Like any other girl, I felt the need to get a kiss or a hug from my “babe”, yet most times I needed him I didn’t find him available. Every girl needs a reminder that she is beautiful and special. We all need that someone who is there even if we tell them not to, we need them to be there during the good and bad, but we shouldn’t have to ask for it. At this point I didn’t realize that now I was the only one giving instead of receiving.

I haven’t yet overcome this feeling. I don’t hate him but I cant say I love him the same way I did. Besides, at one point he did give me all the attention and love, at that point everything was real. In the end we had to do what was best for ourselves, no matter how painful it was. Cry, forgive and learn from experience in order to plant the seed for our future happiness. As teens our love is considered “puppy love”. Maybe it is true, but it’s the same kind of pain. Most of us have gone through something like this and the only thing I can tell someone when they are feeling this kind of pain is this. I’ll tell them how I have gone through this and that it is better to love yourself, talk to your heart because there is always that one person waiting for you to find them. I’ve also learned to take things at a slow pace. I’d rather die waiting and receive true love with out lies even if it hurts more rather then to live a life of lies that will only cause more pain.

This I Believe.

A lesson Worth Knowing...

I recently read the book The Five People You Meet in Heaven. It was about Eddie (the main character) who dies in an accident at Ruby Pier. After his death he goes to heaven and he then meets five people who each teach him a lesson. the five lessons were: connection within people, sacrifice, forgiveness, lost love is still love, and the purpose of his life. Like Eddie i carried lots of anger inside me. through out my life i have met many people that have done me wrong. i cant blame them or regret meting them because in the end they thought me a valuable lesson. i used to carry grudges on people, without realizing that i was hurting myself. Now if someone does something to me i just sit back, forgive them and just watch how they mess up there life's. i can forgive but i cant forget. which means i can talk to you agin but don't expect me to treat you the same way i did.

SRP 2012

I initially didn't know what SRP was about. But in order to succeed i was willing to give up my summer break and come to school. while most of my friends are out partying i get to stay at home and read or studying. I didn't give all that for no reason, in order to succeed or get something good of another thing then we should make sacrifices. I know that in the end i will get something good out of coming to school. I know i would of quit school if i had not gone this summer. In this blog i don't want to promote it or anything of that sort i just want people to know about my experience and how i've grown.
